The piece I chose was American Gothic by Grant Wood. This piece has been re created so many ways. The recreation I chose was with Mcdonalds behind it.

 I’m pretty sure around the time this piece was created (1930) there wasn’t a Mcdonalds around. I thought it was neat how they infused something that’s apart of our culture in to a famous piece of art. I also wanted to show the one of our current  first lady and president.

These pieces are very post modern because they show how far we have come in technology were we can at any moment turn something that is historical into a play upon modernism. The original art piece is very bland and doesn’t have a modern or vibrant vibe to it.

All of these recreations add color and life. They also add things that are popular like your favorite celebrities, restaurants, cellphones, drugs and etc. Their is also a huge statue of this painting that they take to different events it gets carried by 18 ft trucks and get set up at each event.  What started out as a American traveling to Europe and painting a random couple he saw outside of their home turned into a historical parody.
